City of Plattsburgh has been at the center of the cryptocurrency mining discussion for the past 6 months. We are the first city in the world to issue a moratorium on cryptocurrency mining and the eyes of the world are on us to see how we resolve issues associated with fairness, low electric rates, safety and economic opportunity. The Center for Cybersecurity and Technology at SUNY Plattsburgh will be hosting a 3-hour roundtable discussion on Bitcoins, Cryptocurrency, Blockchain Technology, Mining and the City of Plattsburgh. The college community, the City of Plattsburgh residents, councilors and the mayor are invited to ask questions, participate in the discussion and engage with our panelist that bring varied knowledge and skills to the table. This is our second roundtable discussion and we are hoping to spend more time on topics of mining, impact on the City of Plattsburgh and the opportunities Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Technology bring to our area. If you cannot attend in person, the event will be broadcast on Zoom where you can watch it live over the Internet.
