Thanks for appropriately distinguishing the UMTS standard (WCDMA and components FDD and TDD) from cdma2000. I think it may be only a matter of time, however, before the TDS-CDMA standard (sometimes referred to as NTDD as opposed to WTDD) may be incorporated into the UMTS standard for the reason you suggest, among others. A convergence of standards? Perhaps. In any case, it is more correct to say that IDCC is primarily, but not exclusively, involved with the UMTS standard for 3G, which hopefully will soon be widely implemented and become the primary source of its future revenues.
