#75900 RE: fastpathguru #75899

The interesting thing is that AMD's European Sales and Marketing director felt the need to go out of his way to target the majority of his comments against Intel's quad core implementation and future roadmap.

It seems that AMD is quite concerned about Intel claiming leadership with Clovertown. Lots more FUD than usual, but the proof will be in the pudding when benchmarks and power numbers arrive.

Re: So much for "no Rev-H K8 on desktop 'till Q4..."

Actually, the quote does not support the argument. All it claims is the new core in H1 2007, and then desktop/laptop later. It doesn't say how much later; although, nothing would stop AMD from doing a low volume paper launch of quad core Opteron in an AM2 package. If that's the case, it will most likely be restricted to the FX and 4x4 lines. Based on suspected tapeout, AMD is trying to juggle a pretty tight schedule, and it will be hard enough to get Opteron to market by June 30th, let alone the complete lineup some people are expecting.

It should be interesting to see if they have demos next week during IDF. If not, I can't see the H1 launch schedule as anything more than wishful thinking.
