I noticed lately you said to bookmark some of your posts so we can all check back and see how your predictions turned out. Bookmark this post... IMO, in a few years, TDD will have faded away to niche status... with HSDPA enjoying widespread implementation (2006-2007 timeframe).

Here's another quote from InterDig's WTDD technology white paper:

"The WCDMA standard has established a migration path to 3.5G and 4G services, in which WTDD technology will play an important role. The migration path incorporates high speed downlink packet assess (HSDPA), which will enable very high communication data rates - up to 10 Mbps. The migration path also aims to increase coverage and capacity and improve interference-avoidance through adaptive modulation schemes, hybrid Automatic Retransmission Request, integrated smart antennas and fast cell search. WTDD technology will support all of this.

I'm no techie, but it is clear that InterDig is claiming that WTDD will be an important part of any evolutionary standard, including HSDPA. It also appears the InterDig considers HSDPA to be an enhancement of WCDMA as opposed to a new standard. I'd guess that InterDig will play a nice role in the development of any HSDPA technology.

Your thoughts?
