It looks like 1990 and 1994 were soft patches when the housing index fell that hard. The coorelation of 80% may be a little generous though.

thanks tarm. it appears the only real correlation has been the recent years. i do not maintain a web site so not sure what we can do about the hosting thing. perhaps someone will step up.

if anyone remembers augieboo, he has stored tiny's picture on his space for years. he was a great guy and master chartsman and missed by many

"Maybe we bounce down a little off NDX 3000, but then we just reload and go through." - Cramer, LOL

Thanks for posting that chart. Did you do the 1 year shift? If your pink line moved 1 year to the right the recent data would correlate very well. The charts would almost cover each other since 1998 (WAG)

The magnitude correlation falls apart in the earlier years though. 94-95 the pink line + 1 yr would lose about 40% (WAG) yet the SP actually rose. 91-91 the pink line would be going down the whole time and the blue line would be screaming up.... 95 the pink line would have peaked and began a 40ish % slide while the SP was starting a run that didn't stop until the Cramer and Abbey show.
