Not necessarily news but encouraging developments nevertheless.
I've been using an old computer for checking how the demo files tax the CPU. With the new demo files, that's roughly halved, it showed that they have been successful to offloading to the GPU, proof of concept if you like.
Overtaxing CPU is the main remaining Achilles heel of their own player.
As I understand from the CC, there is a bigger iteration already in testing, but not yet in the demo videos, that will happen within the next month or so after it has been tested in the field and debugged.
It's still too early to say whether they will pull it off (at least in my opinion, so I'm not rejoicing yet), but I was positively surprised by the big drop in CPU usage nevertheless. That's encouraging.
