#227670 RE: Shavasana #227669

The problem I see with those comments is that I think the HEVC 'encoding' is something that would be done prior to transmission to the end user with the receiving end having the responsibility/ability to decode with their TV or STB, and by the looks of it...they are strictly talking upscaling and not streaming native 4k and hence the need for something like the Nuvola NP-1. I recognize I may not putting this out there correctly and so am asking that someone with a better ability describe the distinctions. imo

Too much RESEARCH is required to answer simply. I have written
EXTENSIVELY about the distinctions between 4K TVs, Smart TVs, &
4K Smart TVs. Not all Smart TVs stream 4K. And nearly EVERY 4K
TV Smart or not, can benefit from a NanoTech product.

Nuvola models can hook up to ANY TV & deliver the highest available
streaming quality, INCLUDING 4K, plus games, social features, FREE
TegraZone, OUYA & GooglePlay games & Apps (thanks to NTEK getting
CTS Certified via Google), wisely aligning themselves with nVidia &
using their chips, as well as working with OUYA & others.

Your question is specific to Best Buy however. To understand what
NTEK has been saying with product to retail the past year, one would
have to RESEARCH NTEKs Magnolia Home Theater Centers (that were
announced as to be 4K inclusive centers within Best Buy & had to
be BUILT OUT):

NOT ALL Best Buy's have Magnolia Home Theaters yet built into them:

Locate a NEW Magnolia HT near you here: http://tinyurl.com/on8dpnm

Most stores, I do not personally KNOW YET about Best Buy, will have
4K TV panels &/or models a la Seiki, Vizio, Hissense & others that
may not be smart. The number of 4K TVs to 4K Smart TVs appears to
be about 50/50. For those non-4K Smart TV buyers a Nuvola will be
a desirable buy. They can get the 4K quality without getting BANGED
over the head with BRAND NAMES looking to vamp them...Research
Sony, for example: They REQUIRE you buy a 4K SmarTV at a HUGE
Premium, an ~$700 4K Player to gain access to their 4K Libary,
AND a ~$500 Tablet they use as a REMOTE CONTROL for the 4K TV
& Media Player!!! Add it UP!!! Do the DD. Then learn about the
inconvenience of a Sony non-streaming sit & wait download device
(in their 4K Media Player).

All this IS & OUGHT TO BE self-verified! I have DONE MY DD. I
suggest others continue doing theirs to UNDERSTAND the investment
opportunity NTEK presents & decide what WORKS FOR THEM!!!

As to the OTHER 4K TVs. We can stick with Sony & Samsung as an
example. Understand what they are doing in the 4K space. I have
written EXTENSIVELY about them too. They have EACH created a
relatively closed & contained ECOSYSTEM (& likely for similar
but also varied reasons). Understand what they are!! NTEKs
UltraFlix product might be the answer while, in exchange, allowing
NTEK access to their 4K Libraries MAY BE (I do not know this, just
thinking about how I might negotiate the deal) be a part of the
exchange. Especially as NTEKs "4K Studios" grows the content that
supplies The UltraFlix UltraHD TV-Network!!

But, in order to answer your question MORE SIMPLY - one would
have to KNOW what NTEK products are, what they do, & how they
work. For EVERY 4K TV the UltraFlix UltraHD 4K TV-Network is
likely to become a STAPLE.

NOTE: NTEK has claimed a 3-Tier Income Stream from that product

1) FREE: ad-revenue generated income
2) SUBSCRIPTION: ~$5./mo no ads
3) PPV, TVOD, VOD Content: Fee for BUY or RENTAL.
($1.99 to $15.-)

Again, you MUST KNOW what the competition is doing to appreciate
a proper answer to your questions. Sony for example charges $30.00
to $35.00 per BUY.

UltraFlix then becomes a VERY IMPORTANT PRODUCT. Especially if NTEK
continues to generate original programming, acquire &/or remaster
content, &/or adds mergers to the mix. Much like Cuban's HDNet was
built to advantage the transition from SD to HD. NTEK has clearly
spent the last year not ONLY improving their products while the
market catches up (& showing them off to buyers at 12 Trade Shows
over 10 months), but also VERTICALLY INTEGRATING the 4K business
thereby supporting quicker 4K adoption....

What's more? If you DD the film industry you'll NOTE that they
gain HUGE passive income from leveraging their FILM LIBRARY. Sony
is in DESPERATE NEED of REVENUES....their business has NOT been
going well. NTEK can SAFELY STREAM the Sony library (even better
than Sony can- with MORE Piracy protections & at customer cost
savings). Once again, DD into bitrates, data-caps & trends is
required. No one has a VARIABLE Streaming Setting for delivering
4K between 6Mbps to 25Mbps, NTEK does!!!

Those who OWN a Nuvola & are STREAMING UltraFlix are USING IT
RIGHT NOW!!!!

Lastly, NTEK has said that when the H.265 Codec becomes available
they will have it...NOT MY WORDS. NTEKs, published on their website
& in NUMEROUS PLACES, even in multiple shareholder questions at
Trade Shows, in Facility visits, etc...

a need for an np-1?

FACTS (as I find them)
1) This technology is not yet "deliverable".

2) NTEK has stated that the Nuvola will be HEVC compatible as
soon as commercially available. Verbatim, from their website:

The Nuvola NP-1 supports current 4K Ultra HD video using the H.264
compression, and will be automatically updated with the latest
H.265 (HEVC) codecs as they become available.

http://ntek.com/np1.php

3) Best Buy is NOT the only seller of 4K TVs WorldWide.

4) Clearly, NTEKs 4K deployment-strategy is NOT restricted
to ONE PRODUCT.

5) EVERY 4K TV can benefit from NTEKs UltraFlix UltraHD 4K
TV-Network.

6) Similarly, NTEKs vertically-integrated business model, means
"4K Studios" will play a role in 4K adoption, support & REVENUE
generation (passive, mostly long-term ROYALTY-based revenues I
might add) for NTEK shareholders (or at the VERY LEAST, imho,
used as LEVERAGE to increase the VALUE of a content-providers
film library & add a NEW Revenue Stream; while also creating NEW
revenues for NTEK & building NTEKs 4K business & 4K library).

Lastly, we don't even KNOW yet what NTEKs Gaming-Labs has come
up with. But it seems to be a NEW 4K Display-panel technology.
IF it can handle higher refresh-rates, eliminate blurring, etc.
& is capable of fps, etc. then this is ANOTHER GAME CHANGER...

But, we'll have to wait a few more weeks to get a better handle
on that aspect of the NTEK business model which is SLOWLY being
REVEALED to us....

The answer is no. the new TV's equipped with H265 decoding capabilities and HDMI 2 will make set top boxes obsolete.

UltraFlix app (with great content) on these new TV's is what they need to hope for. Imo

BINGO :-D Well Done..No Need For MOJO/NPs :-D

All 4K Ultra HD TVs at Best Buy will be equipped with HEVC/H.265 (High Efficiency Video Coding). This allows the demanding size of 4K content to be compressed and streamed over the Internet. This is critically important, because for now, 4K content can only be streamed or downloaded. In addition, all Netflix 4K content requires HEVC to be built into the TV.
Upscaling the picture quality of all your current movies and TV shows to near-4K Ultra HD quality is a fantastic feature, and Best Buy is committed to carrying 4K Ultra HD TVs that offer the finest upscaling. Keep in mind that some 4K TVs sold elsewhere won't be able to upscale at all.
All 4K Ultra HD TVs at Best Buy will have HDCP 2.2 installed, which will help future-proof your TV and ensure you can view all 4K content now and in the future.
Newer high-speed HDMI cable allows for 4K content to be displayed all the way up to 60fps, which is the highest frame-per-second rate available. All UHD TVs currently at Best Buy have this 60fps capability.

Overall, you can purchase your 4K Ultra HD TV with confidence at Best Buy. All of our current 4K TVs have passed our strict requirements for a high-quality 4K picture, premier upscaling of content, future proofing through software updates, and the ability to display all available 4K content today and in the future
