That is EXACTLY what Samsung does. It gets in as a component supplier, learns your business, then beats you with sheer scale.

Apple will be absolutely foolish if it continues to use Samsung as a foundry. Absolutely foolish.

How does stealing your customers design NOT qualify as 'using cooperation to stick a dagger in'?


I thought I had explained that clearly but I suppose it is something that is difficult to get if you have never been involved in anything like that. Cooperation between companies on enterprises is a major factor of industry nowadays, they circumscribe the area in which they will cooperate and outside of that they compete, it is the basis on which for instance all standards organizations try an operate and organisations like OpenPOWER or Linaro work. The potential problems are far greater than those of for instance GE and Intel working over automating machines and a company needs some sort of reputation to be able to get it working well.
