More than 70% of the Fortune 500 have one person holding the positions of Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. Less than 30% have two persons holding those two positions.

The Fortune 500 companies that have two different people holding the COB and CEO positions typically divide the work this way: the COB handles strategic matters while the CEO handles strategic (in coordination with COB) and operational matters.

By suggesting that the COB is only a part-time position because the board meets only 6 times a year is just uninformed.
