Evogene- Yep, I misspoke about this, I meant to say only genes. Of course all the traits are pretty clear. Thanks for pointing that out.

I am most interested in the approaches dealing with stress tolerance, both abiotic and biotic. There is a big future here. I also like the approaches dealing with improvements of nitrogen utility in plants. I have not followed this latter area recently, but cloning the nitrogenase complex was a huge deal 'back in the genomic era of cloning genes.' That turned out to be a quite complex gene, not easy for genetic engineering. The big deal then was to take the nitrogen fixing nitrogenase gene complex from such plants (beans, peas, alfalfa) and to engineer it into corn and grains plants. Obviously that has not happened.
