I think Bob A. wants Kim to change the name to "KABOOM!".
Why not call the company "Spiber"?
After all, there are already two companies on two different continents using that lame dyslexic name, why not a third?
Or, since the Germans called their company "Amsilk" we could call our company "Deutchsilk"!

Seriously, KBLB does not want to be known only as the company that makes Monster Silk(TM).
Kim Thompson wants KBLB to be known as a company that does serious research in transgenic Biotechnology and produces many new important commercial products for use in a diversity of fields.
Like, for example "Sangamo BioSciences".

For that, Kraig Biocraft Laboratories is a very serious and effective name.

Companies that sell products to consumers want names that exemplify their products or ideals such as "Footjoy", "Nike", or "Mountain Athletics".

KBLB will sell products (fiber, R&D) to companies (SSM) who sell products to companies that sell products to consumers.

KBLB will make its own name famous in its own markets.
The most important aspect of their name for these circumstances is that it be Unique and not easily approximated by a second rate producer trying to pass itself off as the original.

For those purposes Kraig Biocraft Laboratories is an excellent choice.
