Being pro-active is very important. When it comes to investing, my definition of pro-active is to provide the company with constructive ideas. If I don't like what a company is doing or if I think it has nowhere to go then I sell and find a better place to put my money. Conversely, unless I hold 10-20% of a company I do not consider it pro-active to publicly criticize management at every turn.
