Jesus’ illustrations took many forms, including examples, comparisons, similes, and metaphors. He is well-known for his use of the parable, which has been defined as “a short, usually fictitious, narrative from which a moral or spiritual truth is drawn.”
What is true is that we cannot make a doctrine from this event as it is not repeated. However, I do not believe that any of his narratives were fictitious. Why, we serve a God of truth not fiction. His ways are not our ways and if judgments are not our judgments. I know we serve a god of wisdom and common sense. He did give many moral and spiritual truths from which to draw from because of the listener of the time, however, we do not know the mind of Christ and it is wrong to make assumptions about them. Remember we see thru a glass darkly.
