I find it hard to believe a fortune 500 company will license vplm patent rather than cisco, msft, nortel, qualcom, siemens etc. There are many intercepts solutions out there.

Do a search on google. There are over dozen companies with lawful intercept.

https://www.google.com/?tbm=pts#hl=en&gs_rn=14&gs_ri=psy-ab&tok=9zxXMYDR16JSBS3b1p4S3w&pq=lawful%20intercept&cp=18&gs_id=2a&xhr=t&q=lawful+intercept+voip&es_nrs=true&pf=p&safe=off&tbm=pts&sclient=psy-ab&oq=lawful+intercept+v&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.46751780,d.dmQ&fp=77ac6ae48b214065&biw=1777&bih=840

Example CISCO has legal intercept and cisco is the 900 lb gorilla in internet backend. Cisco intercept was conceived years before Digifonica. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk583/tk799/tsd_technology_support_protocol_home.html

Another lawful intercept issues to notel
http://www.google.com/patents/US7447909

All major equipment makers have their own lawful intercept solutions and no it does not infringe on VPLM patent because patents are issued for unique processes to solve a problem. Patents do not cover Internet Intercept in general.

For this patent to be worth VPLM will need to license the patent to major Voip Providers. Do you think viable voip provider is going to license VPLM voip system rather than CISCO Voice product or notel Example - Skype. I think not.
