Boingo Continues International Expansion, Adding Hotspots in Barcelona, Madrid, Paris and More

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
April 29, 2013 08:02 AM Eastern Daylight Time

Boingo Wireless (NASDAQ: WIFI), the leading DAS and Wi-Fi provider that serves consumers, carriers and advertisers worldwide, today announced an expanded network access agreement with GOWEX, a market leader in “Wireless Smart Cities®” and smart Wi-Fi in public transportation.

“Our expanding roster of international roaming partners, like GOWEX, keep our customers connected on every step of their journey in some of Europe’s greatest cities - from the airport, to their hotel, to the metro station or tour bus”
Boingo customers now have access to 1,400 additional GOWEX hotspots in more than 50 cities throughout Spain, France, Ireland and Belgium, including the company’s “Wi-Fi Cities” municipal hotzones in Paris, Marseille, Dublin, and major cities in Spain including Barcelona, Seville, Malaga and Bilbao. Boingo users will also have access to GOWEX wireless services on popular public transportation routes, including on-board Wi-Fi on more than 40 buses in Barcelona, and in more than 50 metro and railway stations in Paris.

“Our expanding roster of international roaming partners, like GOWEX, keep our customers connected on every step of their journey in some of Europe’s greatest cities - from the airport, to their hotel, to the metro station or tour bus,” said Bjorn Thorngren, vice president of international markets for Boingo Wireless. “Our expanded relationship with GOWEX will ensure that our users won’t miss an email or an update whether they’re in Barcelona or changing Paris Metro trains at the Station de Bastille.”

“Boingo customers have accessed our ‘Wi-Fi Cities’ hotzones in Madrid for years, and we’re pleased to extend our expanded municipal hotzones and ‘smart transport’ networks in destination cities across Europe to even more Boingo customers,” said Jenaro García, CEO of GOWEX.

Boingo’s wholesale platform service partners, which provide self-branded Wi-Fi to their customers as part of their service offering, will also have access to the GOWEX networks. Boingo’s platform service partners include KT, LGU +, NTT DOCOMO, Skype and Verizon.

Boingo offers a variety of access plans to European business and leisure travelers, including Boingo Europe Plus, providing unlimited access for two devices at more than 200,000 hotspots across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as daily and hourly access plans at 20 European airports.
