Blaming Fannie & Freddie for the housing crisis is a wrong conclusion. They helps reducing mortgage rate by about 2% for years. i-bankers invented the MBS is the root cause. No control over MBS is the root cause. Once MBS was invented, same will happen with or without F&F. Why shut them down ?

F&F are now back to business. Discounting all the Preferred and 79% CB to Treasury, should worth $2~$3 now. At a point, it was $60~$80.
