London, Mar 7 (ANI): Ever heard of dog food cans being used as broadband antennae? Well, a British businessman had done precisely that to connect his home wireless to the Internet.
David Taylor, an information technology manager with Derbyshire-based consultancy Equation, set up the initial connection through a wireless transmitter to carry the signal the two and a half kilometres to his office.
The new superfast connection impressed him so much that Taylor decided to boost the signal even further to his nearby home.
He tried a milk powder tin, but this, as well as subsequent tin trials, ended up rusting.
Eventually, he hit upon the idea of dog food cans, reports BBC.
"The dog food tin has worked very well. Now not only do the 20 staff in the office have internet connectivity, but I also have full access from my home even with the entire area lying off the broadband grid," Taylor told Computing magazine. (ANI)
