Intel's current 65nm generation is nothing to lose any sleep over

Unfortunately for AMD, this is true. Intel's 65 nm process is humming along flawlessly and will be in production a full year before AMD is scheduled to begin 65 nm production. Of course AMD will need to fix some of the SOI issues that still exist in at 90 nm for AMD before it can hope to introduce successfully its 65 nm process.

Fab 36 is now scheduled to start with 90 nm production with 65 nm production planned for the end of 2006. Originally, AMD planned to start Fab 36 with 65 nm production but delays with the 65 nm process made that plan "no longer operative".
