We are doing the best we can, as we try to understand your concerns. I hoped that today's PR would help to clarify things Buzz, I really did.
What's understandably difficult for you to grasp, is some of the relationships we are obliged to enter into, to do business in China.
As a foreign company, we need Chinese partners. That's a given .. no choice, we have to do it. Some of these companies are hard to find on the Internet! Yeah!! Sorry, but that's the way it is!
Look Buzz, Hong Kong has been reunited with China for just 25 years! Before that it was a British Colony, just like the US in 1775! There's always been Chinese money in Hong Kong but as long as British soldiers patrolled the streets, that money was stuffed under a mattress!
Today, under China's inspired and liberal administration, Hong Kong survives as an Asian economic powerhouse. But old habits die hard! The Economist magazine estimates that 75% of Hong Kong's wealth is still harbored under beds, not in banks or investments.
What advantage is there for a wealthy HK businessperson to advertise their worth? If you do business in HK you know where to go. If you don't, who needs you anyway?
Okay, try taking that logic to the Chinese mainland. Multiply everything by a quotient of 20!!
In the West we have a business community that, over the sometimes painful history of the past 100 years, has developed into an open, publicly registered, visible entity.
China rose like a Pheonix from the rule of MaoTseTung in 1977! Mao made mistakes but he unified the country for the first time in history. And look what that country has achieved!
But for all that, for all the money made, for all the riches, could China really be expected to change its entire psyche in less than a lifetime?
Centuries of anonymity for the sake of survival can't just disappear overnight.
You guys don't like our pictures of the clinic. Fair enough! But you're not likely to get any better ones until I go to Shenzhen myself.
You don't like our documents from China. Most were never destined for major consumption in America! They suffice where they belong! I've busted my backside over that darn Shenzhen layout plan ever since I got it a month ago. The bottom bits are where we will be! What more can I say?
You all knew when you bought shares in MDCE, what we intended to do. We were going to open kids' clinics in China. China, not Milwaukee ..... running out of US places as comparisons!
This was going to be different! This business was going to be in China.
This business was a startup, so hang onto your hats!!
Did we promise anything more? No, seriously, did we promise anything more?
So here we are! Fall 2012!!
We are going to open Kid's clinics in China ... not Milwaukee!!
So, sometimes what we say might seem a little"grey". Sorry! I do the best I can with the information I am given. And the information I am given us all the information that exists.
