In the U.S., it has requested priority review based on what it says is a “strong medical need,” and he said the company is confident the request will be approved, meaning the FDA will announce its decision on the drug candidate in the first quarter of 2013. In Europe, he said, the process is slightly different: a decision would normally be given in the third quarter of 2013, but the company requested and received approval for “accelerated assessment,” which Clackson said it “pretty rare to be granted in oncology.”

I think Ariad is set up for one of those faster than expected MDVN type approvals as well. The kind that the filthy animals like so much and drive up the pps 10%. Harv and the gang are well aware of what drives up share price and are setting us up for those "Oh my goodness, so fast!" deals. A little gamesmanship, IMO.
