Mr. John Gardiner reports
TARANIS RESOURCES INC. BEGINS MAPPING AND GROUND GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS ON CASELTON EAST PROPERTY, LINCOLN COUNTY, NEVADA
Taranis Resources Inc. has initiated a program of line cutting, geophysical surveys and mapping on its 100-per-cent-owned Caselton East property, Nevada.
The Caselton East property consists of 77 Bureau of Land Management claims located immediately southeast of the historic mining town of Ploche, Nevada, and is located at the southern projection of a major tectonic structure that extends southeast of the Battle Mountain trend. Gold and silver deposits in the Ploche mining district were mined in an east-west-trending structure called the Caselton ore channel using underground methods. Historic production in the Ploche district is in excess of 900,000 ounces gold and 17.9 million ounces silver. The exploration target on the Caselton East property is a low-grade precious metal deposit that is amenable to open-pit exploitation.
The geology of the Caselton East property consists of Paleozolc-age quartzite and limestone that is covered by a thin, but laterally persistent layer of colluvium and alluvial cover that has hampered prospecting efforts in the area. Detailed ground magnetic and very-low-frequency surveys will be used by Taranis to identify precious-metal-bearing structures that will be tested by drilling in the future. Mapping by Taranis has already identified a number of highly altered areas of iron oxide and quartz veining on the property.
