HARTFORD, CT (AP) -

The Connecticut House of Representatives has voted to legalize the medical use of marijuana for adults, creating a system that advocates say provides more protections than similar programs in other states.

The House passed the bill 96-51 after a seven-hour debate, sending it to the Senate. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has said he supports the concept.
