Eco Building Products is the manufacturer of proprietary wood products coated with Eco Red Shield™, an eco-friendly chemistry that protects against mold, rot-decay, termites and fire. On Tuesday, Eco Building Products issued a press release announcing that it has engaged Arthur Douglas & Associates, Inc., a full-service PR and investor relations firm to launch and execute a comprehensive national public relations and awareness campaign among professional investors along with industry and securities analysts. The announcement alone appears to have sent Eco Building Products surging 23.75% to $0.099 (ECOB has a 52 week trading range of $0.07 to $0.33 a share) for a market cap of $18.33 million but the stock is still down 34% since the start of the year, up 17.86% over the past year and down 80.2% over the past five years. I should mention that the last name of the President and CEO of Eco Building Products is someone by the name of “Conboy” but cheap shots and jokes aside, I should mention that Eco Building Products has reported revenues of $1,339k (fiscal year ended June 30, 2011), $224k (fiscal year ended June 30, 2010) and $1k (fiscal year ended June 30, 2009); net losses of $5,986k (fiscal year ended June 30, 2011), $4,165k (fiscal year ended June 30, 2010) and $46k (fiscal year ended June 30, 2009); and had $73k in cash and $869k in receivables to cover $1,528k in payables, $3,337k in current liabilities and $6,691k in total liabilities. Hence, Eco Building Products probably has a great product but I am not so excited about its financials – especially given the state of the housing market. Nevertheless, traders should be looking closely at this stock as any investor awareness campaign will surely have it moving higher.
