Personally i think it is a combination of several factors - the Sony PR, the new NeoReader, the recent patent news, the fact that the markets as a whole have been going up - many things...

QR Codes might still have a ways to go before their usage can be rightly called an explosion, considering the total number of smartphones out there - but it is also very obvious that major players have them in their sights as a tool to be used much more widely in the not too distant future -

there are several more stories about qr codes at SXSW as well - and while they might not be the ones making the evening news yet, the simple fact seems to be that QR Codes are heating up big time -

And love her or hate her - Laura Marriott is quoted everywhere when this subject comes up - so while some long time investors might not have the highest opinion of her, it is very evident that many major players in this sector do -

in the end, i think it is the "psst" factor - the "hey, have you heard of this company? have you invested in this sector?" talk going on that is driving this surge in volume and price - and while there are obviously a significant number of 3 day players pushing a portion of the action, i do not believe they are behind the steering wheel, i think they just got sucked in when it started to run on wednesday and due to their nature (follow me i'll tell you what to buy and when to sell) boast that they are -

to me, it is the marketplace as a whole that is driving this - qr codes are on the verge of exploding and big money wants it's hands on all the steering wheels, and NEOM is simply one of them -
as an aside, I agree with Pop about feeling greedy - after dumping enuf to cover my position i wanted to dump my freebies as well but my wife prevailed and i'll hold them for awhile to see if my theory is right about this -
