There are quite a number of native languages in Africa, K2, as well as the transplanted european ones (French, Dutch, English and Portuguese) and Afrikaans, but the more or less universal language that trancends borders is swahili. Most, especially in Eastern Africa, speak swahili so that they can communicate with other tribes, and swahili has taken several english and french words into its structure as well. It has a strong arabic influence in it, due to many africans being converted to islam and reading the Koran. It truly is a polyglot language.
