Alliant Energy Corporation (Alliant Energy) operates as a regulated investor-owned public utility holding company. Alliant Energy focuses to provide regulated electricity and natural gas service to approximately one million electric and approximately 412,000 natural gas customers in the Midwest through its two public utility subsidiaries. The subsidiaries of the Company include Iowa Railway and Light Corporation (IPL), Eastern Wisconsin Electric Company (WPL), Alliant Energy Resources, LLC (Resources) and Alliant Energy Corporate Services, Inc. (Corporate Services). The Company’s utility business has three segments: electric operations; gas operations, and others, which includes IPL’s steam operations, various other energy-related products and services, and the unallocated portions of the utility business. During the year ended December 31, 2010, IPL ceased high-pressure steam operations in downtown Cedar Rapids.
