The daughter of Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter revealed Thursday her father's health has severely worsened, with doctors diagnosing new tumors on his brain.

"I wish I could say that the results were good ... [the doctor] told my mom that there are now several new spots/tumors on my dad's brain," Carter's daughter, Kimmy Bloemers, wrote on the family's website, where she has updated his condition since his initial diagnosis last May.
"I write these words with tears because I am so sad for my dad.
Dr. Jimmy Harris will be coming to my parent's house this evening to talk to the family about the next step. I will continue to keep you all updated."

The 57-year-old's condition had been improving until recently. In October, Bloemers wrote that some of the tumors were shrinking and that "parts of the tumors are actually dying."

She said, however, in her latest update that the former Mets and Expos great felt too weak to attend his annual charity golf tournament Monday near his Florida home.

The 11-time All-Star was a member of the 1986 champion Mets. He won three Gold Gloves in his career from 1974 to 1992 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003.
