Nope, the buyback basically goes First come first serve basis.

When Volkswagen Forced the Squeeze, there were so many shares short, the actual investors were getting calls to "buy them out off market" to avoid the price surge.

All market makers are friends untill its cover time, then it comes down who is the quickest. That is why when volume surges the maket makers trip over themselves because they know, the first one in, covers at the best price and the last one in might not be able to cover at all.


It becomes supply VS demand at that point...

Less Supply and more of Demand, Forces a MOASS (mother of all short squeezes)

Remember, "AIR SHARES" are not supposed to happen. So instead of reporting it, they cover.
