GUZMAN vs. PONCE!!! Confirmed! ....just got off the phone with guzman trainor don saxby who is at gleasons gym training. nice fellow, eager talker. he gave me his email for further communication. i'd like to keep the phone number and saxby email private for a few days, but i will encourage any questions from board and fire away at him at one time. conversation couple minutes, short and sweet... i asked who guzman is fighting?...saxby replied Ponce! asked why not robles, saxby said he did not know, i'd have to get answer from manager. asked where i could get tickets? saxby kind of chuckled and stated, "you know, i don't even know where you could get them. i guess you'd have to call the Dominican Republic and find out." final question i asked when guzman leaving the states for DR. saxby stated not sure, probably oct 8/9..but don't quote him on that. stated that guzman did not want any distractions by arriving in DR too early. gang, noisy gym background, did not want to hammer saxby for answers, just a couple basics. i asked nothing about promos. he gave me the feeling that he is trainer only and any business questions needed to be directed towards guzmans manager. well, at least we know guzman fighting (patsy)Ponce..now why wouldn't swank update us on something that important. i'm emailing ibf to update my findings, and maybe they will email swank for confirmation. for any doubters on my call, please review my earlier post when i mentioned swank had pnumonia and he was in DR during friday night fights glty.
