Richardson Electronics Manufacturer Doubling Size Of Its Operations

SHORES

RICHARDSON (March 24, 2005) Texas Prototypes, which launched its business in Richardson just three years ago, is doubling the size of its operations in the Telecom Corridor® area.

A global provider of prototyping electronics manufacturing services for original equipment and contract manufacturers, TXP - Texas Prototypes, Inc. has announced that the company has signed a five-year lease with TCIT Dallas Industrial, Inc., for 30,783 square feet of industrial warehouse space at 1299 Commerce Drive.

Michael C. Shores, president and CEO of TXP-Texas Prototypes, Inc., stated, “The newly acquired facility will accommodate the company's current expanding business needs while providing continued growth potential for the company and all of its divisions.” As a result of recent contracts, Shores expects the company will be hiring 12-14 experienced engineering and tech staff, joining the 31 current employees.

“Texas Prototypes began operations here in 2001, right at the beginning of the economic downturn,” said Richardson Mayor Gary Slagel. “However, by providing fast and valued services, the short-run assembly and manufacture of prototype circuit boards, devices and electronic products to communications and electronics companies, the company has grown steadily and established a solid reputation for excellence and customer service. We are proud of the company's success to-date and pleased that they have chosen to expand in Richardson.”

“TXP truly represents the 'can-do' attitude of the tech-talent here in Richardson, as well as the potential, through hard work and a needed product and service, to be successful,” said Charles W. Eisemann, chairman of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce. “The company's founder has aggressively pursued a business mission and vision, and is reaching out to global markets and customers.”

The company finished out the warehouse space to suit the manufacturing needs of its three divisions (Texas Prototypes, Texas Photonics and Texas Packaging) and has taken occupancy. The addition includes approximately 2,500 square feet of clean room space.

TXP –Texas Prototypes, Inc. offers manufacturing services and supports quick-turn complex printed circuit board assembly prototyping, new product introduction, and pilot production of electronic assemblies for technology innovators and original equipment and contract manufacturers. The newly finished-out facility is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory and manufacturing equipment for electronic, photonic and packaging assembly, test, and inspection.

The search for more room for its prototyping operations led TXP-Texas Prototypes to expand its space in the same complex at 1299 Commerce Drive. Scott Jessen of the Morse Company was the broker for the deal, representing TXP. Anthony James was the leasing agent for TCIT Dallas Industrial.

“Today's market is prime for allowing a fast-growing company like Texas Prototypes to benefit from the aggressive terms available,” said Scott M. Jessen, CCIM, principal of The Morse Company, which assisted Texas Prototypes with its search for more space.

“We've been through this before and now is a great time to lock in on favorable, long-standing lease terms. The technology market can change quickly and Texas Prototypes is a prime example of the future for many. We are excited to be strategic partners with TXP as they continue to experience growth,” Jessen added.
