KODAK, NOKIA AGREE TO EXPAND DIGITAL PHOTO SERVICE IN CHINA

SHANGHAI - Kodak, the US-based film giant, announced on January 7 that it would
jointly promote a service with Nokia to print photos taken by digital cameras in
mobile phones.

The company launched the service because mobile phones with digital cameras were
becoming popular among Chinese, said Chen Yaorong, general manager of the
Consumer Imaging Department under Kodak (China) Co. Ltd.

AUSTRALIA'S WOOLWORTHS TO SIGN TELCO DEAL WITH TELSTRA

SYDNEY - Supermarket group Woolworths Ltd (ASX:WOW) has agreed to put its
telecommunications in the hands of Telstra Corp Ltd (ASX:TLS) in a five-year
deal.

Woolworths hailed the agreement as one that would bring in considerable savings,
while Telstra said the contract win was a great way to start the new year.

ERICSSON DELIVERS WCDMA NETWORK TO TAIWAN'S FAR EASTONE

TAIPEI - Taiwan's Far EasTone Telecommunications has selected Ericsson as the
sole supplier for a seamless, island-wide 2G/3G system.

Ericsson will expand and upgrade the present 2G-system, delivering a fully
integrated GSM-GPRS-WCDMA solution that ensures all Far EasTone's customers a
seamless evolution from 2G to 3G.

WIRELESS APPLICATIONS FACE BIG MARKET AMONG FILIPINO SALESMEN

MANILA - Companies that maintain a large sales force are emerging as the early
adopters of wireless data applications in the country.

Nathaniel Marquez, engagement manager for wireless e-business solution, IBM
Philippines, Inc. noted that such companies especially those in the
pharmaceutical industry are already adopting wireless applications.

JAPAN'S CHEMICAL MAKERS TO UP OUTPUT CELL PHONE MATERIALS

TOKYO - Japan's major chemical producers will increase their output of specialty
materials used in cellular phones, to meet growing demand from manufacturers of
camera-equipped phones and high-performance LCD screens, according to sources at
various companies.

Nippon Steel Chemical Co. (TSE:4363) will invest 7 billion yen (US$58.2 million)
by 2004 to nearly treble the output of flexible, thin circuit boards, which have
a two-layer structure, with each layer made of resin and copper.

INDIA'S TELECOM REGULATOR RECOMMENDS LICENCE FEE CUT TO 5 PCT

NEW DELHI - The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today recommended
reduction of licence fee including spectrum charges to five per cent from the
current eight per cent for private mobile radio trunking services (PMRTS)
operators to facilitate growth in the sector.

Licence fee to be paid to the department of telecom and Wireless Planning and
Coordination (WPC) and the royalty for spectrum together should not exceed five
per cent of the adjusted gross revenue from the current 7.4 per cent - 8.6 per
cent, TRAI said in a statement here.
