Insider selling-Got this from Stockhouse but I really thinks it only discourages those who have no clue about how capital gains taxation works when options are exercised. You are taxed on the price of the stock on the day you exercised the options. That is why most people exercise and sell immediately, usually the same day. I remember stories after the 2000 crash of people who had exercised options and not sold and then had the market collapse and their share price along with it. They still had to pay for the "gain" based on the higher price the day they exercised even if the stock price had gone down to nothing. Its just simply prudence. Wi-Lan could go to 3 bucks a share in a large market collapse as these events will take down even the IBMs and AAPLs.
