I thought the day-trader rule applied to me as well, but it's only for a margin account. If you're all cash account you can buy/sell all you want with no limits.

I'm not suggesting chasing, I just don't ride them down after riding them up.

Again, if all you have is a cash account, the day-trader rule does NOT apply to you.
