I agree with your opinion of Barchart.com. Watching their trend over time has been useful for me however. In the case of VLVT I have watched them move from a Trend Spotter SELL about three weeks ago ... to HOLD last week ... and to BUY this week.
During this period their Overall average rating has moved from around 24% BUY to around 72% BUY currently.
To me it is just a confirmation that the technical data is backing up my intuitive decision making process. Of course, I usually spend hours on dd research before making my intuitive decisions.
It was talking with all of the principles and seeing progress being made in preparing a business plan and the unaudited financials that allowed me the comfort to make my first purchase. Without the audited financials and answers to most of the questions I posed in my first post I still consider this much more a gamble than an investment. But, IMO, the odds on the gamble have come down dramatically over the past few weeks and I have made 2 additional purchases as a result.
