In this patent, one of the methods is the local app converts the indirect into a "request" URL to identify the clearinghouse, and location within the clearinghouse.

This may also have some problems with prior art since their is a local database


Indirect is your word, the patent says barcode and is referring to UPC.

Also prior art is not in question as this is a patented case and not an application, so it has already cleared prior art unless challenged.

Not saying that this patent has anything to do with managed direct because I don't fully understand that term yet, but it is the first language I have seen about forming a URL based on barcode identifiers. I also like the device identifier language contained in this patent.
