Not sure why you would think the Volt (or any other electric car) would be loaded with copper.

the only use for copper is in wiring(all cars already have) and motor windings(all cars already have in the form of starter motors and alternators).

An electric car or hybrid has an electric motor but, these cars do not have starters or alternators. They have swapped one for the other 2. any change in copper content of windings is negligible.

Since GM is almost the last company to jump on this bandwagon(the Chinese already have an equivalent) I do not see the Volt filling any market need not covered by the Japanese or Germans or even Ford for that matter.
