AVNR - FWIW - the site is responding on port 80 (the standard www port). This was verified by running "telnet www.avanir.com 80" and getting a response.

There simply does not seem to be any content being provided.

They seem to be hosted at Amazon's web services. A ping of www.avanir.com shows:

Pinging lb-avanir-496885687.us-east-1.elb.amazonaws.com [174.129.210.107]

Could very well be that the provider - Amazon - is having issues. Or it could be something as simple as maintenance. Wouldn't read too much into this.
