Do companies like Walmart, Walgreens, CVS etc. really put "gimmicks" on their shelves??
Seems to me that a gimmick is a kind of device used to cheat, deceive or trick someone.
What we have here is a soap-laced antimicrobial item that seems to work quite well and probably one of the reasons the above mentioned companies stocked the product.
