Rox re Ericy possibly helping Nokia against IDCC

Seems to me that since Ericy is now paying IDCC royalties, including the very recent $28m, then they would much rather see Nokia pay IDCC also, rather than not pay. Therefore I think that Ericy might be more inclined to help IDCC against Nokia, than to help their major competitor Nokia not pay any royalty to IDCC.

If Ericy and Nokia would try to end-run IDCC for 3G after 2006, I think they would have to prove nonessentiality on all of IDCC's 3G patents, including HSDPA. I don't think that they can do that. Especially considering the number of existing 3G licensees with IDCC, and hopefully that number will only increase each year.

How do you think that Nokia and Ericy can buddy-up to help defeat or minimize IDCC's 3G royalty claims? BTW I think that Nokia and Samsung are already trying the collusion tactic in 2G, but I don't think that their tactic is going to work for 2G. I think that they will both wind-up paying IDCC a lot of money for 2G. And I would think that IDCC's 3G patents are much, much stronger than its 2G patents.
