gman - if it's going to cost them millions, tens of millions, or hundreds of millions more from their respective future bottom lines, I wouldn't put it past them, would you?

You might also find that they will accept and use a particular method/patent that is already covered via a license or x-license agreement rather than use another method that will cost them additional $$$s. Not too hard for them to tweek a contribution outside the scope of a patent that may be covering it

Look at Nokia's declarations for patent invalidity/non-infringement against our 3G patents.....like I originally posted, it's a bit scary.
