How to insert a chart in a post (for newbies and dummies)

Don't take offense to this, it took me about 20 tries to post my first chart, so I guess I am a dummy!

Step one - go to your favorite chart site and create your chart - let's use stockcharts.com as an example.

Use this link for a nice quick 3 month chart...
http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=COPI&p=D&yr=0&mn=3&dy=0&id=p98403702494

Change the indicators, Put in MFI instead of MACD if you like, whatever you want to change BUT REMEMBER THIS - before taking any more steps you must click on LINKABLE VERSION located about 1/3 the way across the chart right below the chart you created!

If you don't do this, you are going to post a basic 1 year chart, not the chart you intend!

Step two - right click on the chart that shows after you clicked on linkable version. Now you get a box with choices, the very bottom of the box, the last choice is properties.

Left click on properties and you open the properties box.

There is a link at the top of the properties box - DON'T use the top link

Use the URL link in the middle of the chart. That link looks like this... http://stockcharts.com/c-sc/sc?s=COPI&p=D&yr=0&mn=3&dy=0&i=p98403702494&r=4352

Remember - this link is in the MIDDLE OF THE PROPERTIES BOX after URL

Step 3 - now cut the htpp:// off of the above link and that leaves you with - stockcharts.com/c-sc/sc?s=COPI&p=D&yr=0&mn=3&dy=0&i=p98403702494&r=4352

Step 4 - now enclose what you had left after you took htpp:// off in step 3 with brackets and the word chart like this [chart ]- then you follow the chart with [ /chart] . the backslash before chart on the close is a must!

NEW for 2009- you now can highlight the part you cut out and posted in part three, then click on Image on the toolbar on the left side of the image box.

step 5 - Now submit your post and your beautiful chart is in your post! This is the final setup before you post...

only there is no space between the brackets and the word chart and the chartlink URL ----- It's all together... The site won't let me post the example except with the spaces!

[chart ] stockcharts.com/c-sc/sc?s=COPI&p=D&yr=0&mn=3&dy=0&i=p98403702494&r=4352 [ /chart]

Please DON'T test this on the NOBRAINERS board, take it to the TEST board to test it... Here is a link....
