Hey You!...Yea You, SRS Lovers Newly, SmartMoney, CR and who knows how many others holding it secretly.

May we be devils advocate...please?
Thank you.

Why are you in SRS?

Real estate IYR doubled from March to Sept. It has since been consolidating those gains but is on the cusp of breaking out to a new high.
IYR has very strong relative strength vs. the Snp for the last 10 days and month. [and March to current period].
SRS has been a somewhat poor vehicle for enhancing wealth this year, down a mere 85% and it's reward vs. risk the last 6 months has been horrible

Given the above, what makes the reward vs. risk so attractive now that it is worth risking your money betting against the strong trend that has been in place?
If there is a strong trend in place, is it not more prudent to go with the trend or, if you can not stand to go with it, at least not fight it?
You may say..."what's it to you? F off, we'll drink our nectar of choice" but, it is our business just as it is when you see your friend drunk as a skunk about to drive off in his automobile. [we make an exception for CR]
Friends don't let friends drive drunk.
Friends don't let friends blow themselves up with vehicles of destruction like SRS without at least trying intervention.
You are welcome,
Don't everyone answer all at once, take your turn.
Fabian
Seriously if we may...We're dead neutral on IYR, no opinion. It's just that when we saw SRS so popular, we took a look a peekie and any reasons for wanting to jump in or be in were not obvious. [but reasons to avoid SRS jumped out rather quickly]
We get bugged to no end by what we can't explain so we come to you, the source for enlightenment.
You have the microphone.
State your case why not only SRS might work, but why the reasons it might work are far more compelling than the reasons cited above which seem so compelling that no one in their right mind would want to sleep with it... or even shake hands without latex gloves.
We ain't looking for no fight. We're looking for enlightenment.
If you realize after comparing the pros and cons that the Pro's really are not 2 or 3 to 1 reward risk in favor of shorting real estate/long SRS, What are you going to do?
Remember, if the Pro's roughly equal Cons, then holding SRS is a pure gamble and you hold no house edge.
Is that what you want to do?
