Pup, petrobas is also in the process of acquiring 40 drill ships, some to be owened others maybe to be leased, the first 12 were contracted out to foreign ship builders the next 28 are planned to be built in Brazil, even if they cost more. The first one was 1.3 billion built in Koera

"In 2008, Petrobras took bids for 12 rigs of the total 40 forecast for the pre-salt. The entire lot, all for charter, is being built overseas. Since they belong to the companies, the work is not being monitored by Petrobras. But the remaining 28 drill ships, however, expected to be acquired by the end of this year, will have to be constructed in Brazil. The speculation is that seven will be owned by the company, which will require the direct participation of the engineering department."
