"These were the schools chosen to roll out the product line at the outset. Eternal Image has the agreement with Collegiate Licensing Company itself and not with individual colleges. CLC represents over 100 schools and is the entity with which EI would be negotiating contracts with if I understand this correctly."

NOT TRUE BASSER.
Each school can decide by themselves who they want and if they want someone to market their college logo/name. Whether it's selling tee-shirts or memorial products.
As for Memeorial Products, their is basically two companies that have been approved through the CLC to sell to the colleges.
Each college can decide who they want to use or they can use both.
As long as royaliites are being paid
Each school has differant Royalities % fees.
This fee ranges from around 5% to 14% depending on the college popularity and demand.
There is also a min. amount they have to pay each year, whether they sell 5 caskets or 100 they have to pay this fee and I believe this is around $100,000. I know it's that with the MLB.
All the CLC is their for is to make sure guidelines are followed and the products are up to stuff. They are also a policing agency and makes sure other companys trying to sell products with a certain college logo have been approved. They do file lawsuites for any products that have not been approved.
This happened to me when I was selling a Floating gator head at the UF gator game. They told me that I could not say "Go Gators" on my web site or on any lit. that was associated with the Gator logo.
So,
Once a product has been approved to sell through the CLC they then deal with the University. The University can give a thumbs up or not.
