Taxes, drug war and education.
In the state of California alone we spend $11,000,000,000 on drug enforcement. That translates to $324 dollars for every man, woman and child in the state. It amounts to 16% of the total state budget. Here is the really disgusting point; the same state spends only $8,000,000,000 on education.
Where are our priorities as a nation when we allow this to happen?
Other states are following this pattern with the average increase in drug war spending on a state level increasing 13% in the last year. This is only state. Federal is even better.
It seems that we feel jails serve our society better than schools.
