This period is so much like the end of July whereby the volatility index kept rising but couldn't do anything to bring down the market. This is the bears' crash and burn period. This is a difficult period to trade and a high probability bear trap to the untrained. The VIX finally gave up within a few days and the market took off. Best thing to do is to hold long until the trendline is broken. SPX 1075 is in sight if the above scenario continues.
