So what? The rule works for the protection of shareholders. I assume if the upcoming news was bad and there was selling ahead of the bad news causing you to lose money, knowing that others were trading on information not available to you or others then that would be okay too?

Seems as if, when people are making money they are accepting when it comes to rule breaking, however when the price is going down, you see continual blame of MM manipulation, illegal shorting etc...

Why is that?

Doesn't seem to me that there is any difference when it comes to the protection of investors by ensuring a fair and balanced system. Both violations are equally damaging to the market.
