jtf, with the company stating that there will be about 70 ounces of silver per ton of concentrate and about a third of an ounce of gold, that's a value of over $1000 right there. Add the 720 lbs of copper at $2.80 and the total value of the contained metals approaches $3000/ton. The various smelting and transportation charges eat into this value but only to about 11 percent. You recall that some early remarks here about the smelting charges, by others, were in the area of 5% or so and I didn't think that was enough of a margin to make it worthwhile for the smelters.

The spreadsheet content that estimates the smelter charges follows the method in a mining text. The method takes into account that some metal is lost in the process as well as clearly giving the smelter a small but worthwhile cut of the values processed. Any fee charged by RBS is not known and would be treated as an expense rather than anything associated with smelting and refining.

So, I'll stick with my numbers for the value of the con. Let me know if you don't agree. The difference seems to be in the large value of the contained silver and gold.
