S.C. Receives Stimulus Funding from DOE

U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu today announced more than $204 million in Recovery Act funding to support energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in ten states.


SOUTH CAROLINA - $20.2 million awarded today

South Carolina also intends to provide financial assistance to various industrial, commercial and small business entities to support energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.

After demonstrating successful implementation of its plan, the state will receive more than $25 million in additional funding, for a total of over $50 million.

Clean energy expands in S.C.

South Carolina is growing its clean energy economy faster than the U.S. average, a national study found.

In 2007, the state had 11,255 clean energy jobs and 884 clean energy businesses. It showed a 36.2 percent growth rate during a 10-year period, the Pew Charitable Trusts said in its new report, “The Clean Energy Economy: Repowering Jobs, Business and Investments Across America.”
