kate, imo one aspect of this rally that trumps many techicals you've mentioned is the volume. as we've been cruising higher and higher the buyers just aren't there like they were a few months ago. we've been referring to it as a 'melt up' for a while now. lol
so at what point does this ever pull back? can it continue until dow 10,000, for instance?
there's a ton of really negative news out there. what about the commercial real estate market? the consensus about retailers is they are in for a lot of pain to come. this translates directly into mall owners who cannot pay lenders. this could really crush banks again.
another metric many are noticing now are the transports. in any typical recovery the transports lead the way, and strongly. instead, we now see them flat-lining during otherwise "bullish" days.
i'm not saying you're wrong, in fact i cannot dispute anything you've said, i just wanted to offer the contrarian view.
